HOLLISTER, Calif. — Motorists on Highway 25 south of Hollister may encounter a short delay on Saturday, October 31, 2026, while state crews trim roadside trees and clear brush ahead of the winter season.
Caltrans District 5 says the work will take place near La Gloria Road and for approximately two miles to the south, between 7 a.m. and noon, weather permitting. Traffic will move through the work area under one-way control, with delays of up to five minutes expected.
Why the work is being done
The agency says crews will remove brush and trim trees as part of winter storm safety and mitigation work. Keeping roadside vegetation in check can help maintain visibility and reduce hazards near travel lanes, though the announcement does not identify a specific current emergency or road failure.
Residents driving toward rural properties, agricultural workplaces and weekend destinations south of Hollister should be ready for flaggers and maintenance vehicles. Caltrans says message boards and directional signs will warn approaching drivers.
Before heading out
The schedule is conditional on weather and other operational circumstances. Drivers can check Caltrans QuickMap for up-to-date traffic information. Slow down in the work zone and follow traffic controllers rather than trying to pass stopped vehicles.
